A Mixed-Severity Landscape:
Fire in the Bitterroot Ecosystem
A Mixed-Severity Landscape: Fire in the Bitterroot Ecosystem was a collaboration with my friend and colleague Tyler Hoecker and was funded in part by a grant from University of Montana's Interdisciplinary Collaborative Network. Working with Hoecker, who studies forest ecology, specifically dealing with wildfires, we developed this body of images to speak to the importance of high severity fires in the Bitterroot ecosystem.
The images were shot with a large format camera on 4x5in film, scanned with a high resolution scanner, and printed 24x30in on with an archival inkjet printer.
